MELT Blueprint Stack review

Updated: Sep 11, 2019

Let me today explain to you my mixed feelings about the MELT Blueprint stack...

Let me start of with the next statement: if these shadows were presented to me in a normal palette format, I wouldn't have bought it. I had these shades already, I didn't need this.

But anyhow, I bought it and it got me really excited. It was an impulse buy, but it took me over a month to finally decide to actually buy it through

Let's start with some swatches of the bronze shades:

Hammered: A deep matte, slightly warm brown. Very pigmented and blends really well. The texture is quite dry, soft, not too much kick-up and well-pressed.

Nailed: This is my favourite shimmer of the bronze colours. A rather neutral bronze/deep gold. Creamy, non-crumbly texture.

Hot Wire: A nice intense orange copper. Texture is also creamy and non-crumbly. This is just not my favourite colour, but it performs very well.

Beaming: A light gold, with peach shift. It's a really nice colour, but the texture is not the greatest. It is quite crumbly, which gives no real problems when you want to apply it to a big part of your eyelid, but if you want to apply it to your inner corner with a small brush, the flakes just fall all over your face. The space you're working in is so small, that it's very difficult to smooth out the texture. It's just a hassle to create a bright inner corner with this shade.

I also created a simple look, using all four of these colours:

Now the part of the Blueprint stack that got me really excited:

Dim -Out: A nice matte, deep, inky blue. Great shade. Also a drier texture, but nicely pressed. It has the same formulation as Hammered, so blends perfectly fine. Bewaren: this one stains quite a bit.

King Stud: A nice neutral metallic medium-toned blue. Nice, creamy texture, just like Nailed and Hot Wire, but not the most metallic finish ever.

Deadbolt: More of a medium turqouise shade with a nice metallic finish? Texture is the same as King Stud. Very nice shadow, but not the most unique colour

Skylight: The most frustrating one of the bunch! A translucent shade with blue/pale green shift. In this day and age, it's not extremely unique and for that reason I'm not willing to put up with the formulation. It is even flakier than Beaming, so only practical to use on the main part of your eyelid. I wanted this to be a nice pressed version of Lumi by Sugarpill, but no, instead it gives me shimmery flakes all over my face... Not the greatest look. I've tried to photograph the texture after swatching the shadow as good as possible and played some with the contrast of the picture. How are you supposed to pick this up evely with a brush?

And here a look with the blue shades, apart from Deadbolt. I applied Skylight with my finger.

Overall, I like the stack. Love the texture of 75% of the stack. Really like the colour of 50% of the stack. 100% love the packaging! So nice and compact and special. If the texture of the two lightest shades was decent, I would give this five stars, but no...

⭐⭐⭐⭐

And one afterthought: Apparently the texture of the MELT Shape Shift stack is flakey as well, according to

KinkySweat , so I'm definitely not picking that one up...
